Hi, I’m Suze. I’m a qualified counsellor based in South Devon. I work online with clients across the UK, and in person in Newton Abbot, Abbotskerswell and Torbay.

For me, counselling is one of the most valuable things you can give yourself. It’s time set aside just for you, to talk, reflect, untangle what’s on your mind, and find new ways forward.

Like lots of people, I’ve had my own share of struggles. Therapy helped me make sense of my past, enjoy life more, and cope better when things get tough. That’s why I believe in this work so strongly.

What I love most is helping people make sense of the thoughts and feelings that can feel overwhelming or hard to put into words. Sometimes that means looking at the past, sometimes it’s about what you’re facing right now. With the right support, I believe everyone has the ability to make changes and live life differently.

Working with me means turning up just as you are and being met with care, curiosity and honesty. I’ll be alongside you , listening, encouraging, and sometimes gently challenging you to see things in a new light.

Life can be complicated. Let's make sense of it together.

Background and qualifications

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working for both public and private organisations in research, communications and employee engagement.

It taught me a lot about human behaviour, how we think and how we can change. I loved the people part of my work so much that it set me off on my counselling training:

  • Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling NCPS accredited

  • Trauma-informed counselling with The Open University

  • Foundation in Integrative Sandplay Therapy

  • Online Counselling BACP & The Open University

  • CIPR Specialist Diploma Internal Communications

I have a passion and commitment to continue to learn and my focus has been on working with grief, fears, anxiety and low mood, overwhelm and burn out as well as family issues and working with women with ADHD and those who have experienced trauma.

My approach

Working with me, you’ll find a warm, down-to-earth space where whatever you’re thinking or feeling is welcome, without judgement and in confidence.

I’m an integrative counsellor, which simply means I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Your story matters, so I draw on different ideas and strategies depending on what you need.

I also don’t think counselling should feel like a mystery. I’ll explain what we’re doing, why it might help, and always check in with your thoughts. Sometimes I’ll just listen, other times I may gently offer another perspective, always with your permission.

If you’ve come across counselling before, you might be interested to know that as well as working to a Person-Centred/Humanistic approach, I’m especially drawn to Gestalt and Existential work, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  If those terms mean nothing to you, don’t worry, I’ll talk you through anything useful as we go, in plain language.

Counselling with me is ultimately about being alongside you as you make sense of things and find new ways forward.
